    RESEARCH AT BVIEER
    Research, consultancies and extension are major thrusts of the Institute. A gist of some of the important projects completed are given below. A project on ‘An Action Oriented Locale Specific Conservation Awareness Program For Prioritised Wetlands in Maharashtra’ was funded by the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India.
    ‘Use of GIS for wildlife management’ funded by the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India.
    Evaluation of Environment Education in the School System (EESS) Program Funded Through the India Environment Management Capacity funded by the Ministry of Environment and Forest, Government of India, New Delhi through the World Bank.

    ‘Study of status of infusion of environmental concepts in school curricula and theeffectiveness of its delivery Funded Through the India Environment Management Capacity funded by the Ministry of Environment and Forest, Government of India, New Delhi through the World Bank.
    ‘A conservation awareness and action program for an ecologically fragile region using local traditional values’ American Association for the Advancement of Science, USA ‘Survey of Protected Areas in Maharashtra’ Project funded by the Ministry of Environment and Forests through the Indian Institute of Public Administration. Project on ‘Inland Wetlands of India’ funded by the Ministry of Environment and Forests through Salim Ali Center for Ornithology and Natural History, Coimbatore. ‘Ecorestorative strategies to preserve the biologically sensitive protected areas in Maharashtra with special reference to grassland protected area management’ funded by the Maharashtra State Forest Department ‘Identification of biorich patches and corridors between protected areas in the northern sector of the Western Ghats for promoting conservation action’ funded by theIndira Gandhi Conservation Monitoring Center of the World Wide Fund for Nature-India New Delhi ‘Key conservation issues in the semi-arid Deccan plateau’ Project Under the MAX Scheme funded by the Ministry of Environment and Forest, Government of India, New Delhi.

    OUTREACH

    BVIEER-ICEF EE Project
    BVIEER with funding from the India Canada Environment Facility has implemented a three year project ‘Conservation Education for Critically important National Parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries through a comprehensive environment education program’ focusing on enhancing conservation awareness and skills among the various stakeholders that can initiate actions for the long-term sustainability of resources of the important PAs of Bandhavgarh National Park and Sanjay National Park in Madhya Pradesh and Dudhwa Tiger Reserve in Uttar Pradesh.

    DNA Club Program
    BVIEER has been appointed as the Regional Resource Agency for the states of Maharashtra and Goa for the DNA Club Program. The DNA Club program that seeks to proactively involve school children into a process that enhances the development of a better understanding of bio-resources and the role biotechnology can play in their sustainable management and utilization is a small but important step in this direction.

    Clean – India Program
    The Bharati Vidyapeeth Institute of Environment Education and Research, Pune is the West Zonal (Pune District, Maharashtra) Center for the CLEAN-India program implemented by Development Alternatives, New Delhi.

    The National Green Corps Program
    The Institute has been appointed as the Resource Agency for Maharashtra State, for the National Green Corps Programof the Ministry of Environment and Forests since 2003 The NGC program is being implemented in 9000 schools in the state.
    Developing of Environment Education Material
    The Institute has enormous expertise in development and designing of EE material and Interpretation Centers. It has recently completed setting up an Interpretation Center at the Lucknow Zoological Garden.
